Associate Professor Marinis Pirpiris is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and academic with over 20 years of experience in hip and knee reconstruction, sports medicine, and paediatric orthopaedics. He holds a PhD and is an Associate Professor at Monash University, reflecting his dual commitment to clinical excellence and medical research.
A/Prof. Pirpiris completed his medical degree (MBBS) and Bachelor of Medical Science at Monash University in 1992, followed by a Master of Epidemiology, Graduate Diploma in Epidemiology, and a PhD. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003, after subspecialty fellowship training at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital (Dallas), Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (Oxford), Shriners Hospital (Los Angeles), and the Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne).
He consults at three locations across Melbourne — Epworth Richmond, Cabrini Malvern, and Epworth Eastern Box Hill — and is committed to patient-centred care and evidence-based practice.
